Manaslu expedition

Manaslu expedition is a complete climbing adventure for the 8000 meter peak in Himalayas, no doubt the best alternative to Cho Oyu with more diverse landscape and challenging climbing experience.  Manaslu peak (8163 m) that towers steeply above its surrounding landscape and is dominant peak when viewed from afar, is the eight highest mountain located in the restricted trekking region of Manaslu in mid west of Nepal.  Manaslu expedition is much more technical and challenging than Cho Oyu and Sishapangma so each climber has to be excellent physical and mental preparation as well as good level of climbing proficiency, altitude adeptness above 6000 meters.  Mountain Monarch offers the expedition on full service to maximize the Manaslu expedition summit rate. Our Manaslu expedition includes the use of Oxygen and regular and the expedition team members supported by 1:2 Sherpa to climbers ration while on expedition. All of our expeditions climbing Sherpas are 8,000-meter experienced and most of them have reached the summit of Manaslu. Post monsoon or autumn is the best time for the Manaslu expeditions.

Expedition route

We follow the Burigandaki valley trail up to Samagoan and first acclimatization day scheduled at 4600 meter before heading up the Manaslu Base camp at 4750 m. As we step onto the Manaslu Glacier following the bamboo marker wands and used fixed rope to skip the serious crevasses and dangerous sections. We fix our Manaslu expedition Camp I at 5700 meter at the bottom of North Peak right above the glacier on a protected area. Expedition Camp II is located at the safe section of the climb on a relatively flat area at 6400 meter, while this campsite can be a lot of snow accumulation. The climb from camp two to camp three is one of the shortest days and takes around 3 hours only. We fix our Camp III at the elevation of 6800 meter just below of the col to avoid the very strong wind making sure tents are anchored properly. The route continues up the remaining glacier passing steep section of snow and ice with safety towards Camp IV at 7400 meter which is the last camp on our Manaslu expedition. Finally traverse exposed remnants of past expeditions smashed tents and dumped garbage’s get to the summit camp having tiring journey of 6 to 8 hours climb. Manaslu Expedition summit day start late evening and the route heads up a moderate slope immediately out of summit camp before arriving at the first of the summit table. The route climbs three separate levels before arriving at the final pyramid slope. From here another short steep slope below the immediate summit is climbed until reaching the fore summit. The summit is reached with an exposed technical traverse for around 70 meters in linear distance and this section needs to have fixed rope in place. The climb from camp IV to the summit takes between 6-9 hours with 3-5 hours for the descent to camp IV. Next day we return back to base camp to end the bid of Manaslu climbing expedition. We use the trusted Mountain Hardware tents on while on Expedition climbing to Manasalu peak.
