Island peak climbing

Island peak climbing is the most popular trekking peak in Everest region because of its imposing and extremely glaciated west face that rises from Lhotse Glacier. The peak is itself a south part of Lhotse shar divided by a small col. Though re-baptized as Imja Tse in 80s it is popular by its original name. It got its name in 1952 AD because of its placement in the middle of Chhukung valley giving appearance like an island in a sea of ice. It is located in the top of Chukkung valley between Ama Dablan and Lhotse Mountains at an altitude of 6,189m. The most challenging section of this climb is ice wall at slope of 45 degrees which is followed by slender summit ridge.

One full day walking from Chhunkung will lead to Base Camp and get prepared to climb the peak. To get victory over the summit it will take one or two days depending upon the weather conditions. From the summit we can view the outstanding mountain panorama of Mt Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Makalu with Hodgepodge of many others. Climbing Island peak is comparatively easy and common due to which many visitors desire to go there. Our journey ends at Lukla from here we will fly back to Kathmandu.
